Volunteers Needed – Frontier Adventure Challenge

Interested in Adventure Racing but Not Wanting to Race?  Be a Volunteer!

Adventure Racing is back for it’s 6th year in Huntsville with the Frontier Adventure Challenge, schedule for Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Hidden Valley Resort.  Are you interested in learning more about the sport of adventure racing? Thinking about competing someday? Want to be part of an exhilarating experience? Join us as a volunteer!  A critical element of staging a successful adventure race is a dedicated team of volunteers on-site during the event. These individuals are a much needed source of information for support crews and competitors out on the course, as well as the reassuring and welcoming faces that teams first encounter when they arrive at a checkpoint or cross the finish line.  It’s also can provide you with a rare opportunity to get out on the course and cheer on your family and friends.  Simply stated, we couldn’t do it without you!  To learn more about the Frontier Adventure Challenge, how you can help, the rewards of being a volunteer and how you can register, please visit the web site at http://www.raidthenorth.com/volunteers.html

Frontier Adventure Challenge, Hidden Valley Resort, April 30, 2011

After five fabulous years at Deerhurst Resort, Frontier Adventure
Challenging is making some big changes to the start of the adventure racing
season. New course designers, a new resort location, new early
registration promotions, new timing systems and more!  This race nearly
sold out in 2010, so get your registration in now and be part of this
high-energy weekend.

Canadian Shield erupting from the forest floor…mud bogs that will
swallow your bike…trails that snake through diverse forests sprouting
new green life…maybe sunshine, maybe rain…and 300 other crazies full
of anticipation at the start line.

Grab two friends or strangers, or go solo, and join us on Saturday, April
30 at the Hidden Valley Resort to kick off your summer adventure racing
season, as we take you off the beaten path in the Frontier Adventure
Challenge – Huntsville.

TOP-NOTCH COURSE DESIGN: After their noticeable performances in our 2010
season, we’ve handed over course design to Rob, Lowell & Mike of Team
Six Feet Under. Locals and experienced racers with incredible knowledge
of the area, they’ve put together a course we never would’ve thought
of – great new trails and forest, challenges for both the experienced
and new racer, and more mudholes than you can imagine! You’re going to
love it!

IMPROVED ACCURACY AND RESULTS: We heard your concerns! We’ll be sending
out a test team in the spring to ensure the course delivers. We’ll have
our CPs reviewed by a professional orienteering course-setter. And
we’re introducing SportIdent tracking so your results will be fast and
accurate.

WIN RACE DISCOUNTS: Top teams in each category, and the top solo racer,
are each rewarded with a 50% discount on the Fall Classic in September.
