Pretty cool site. Lot's of potentially useful info.

A word of caution to those who would like to implement the type of stuff this site (and those like it) displays;

Learning most exercises/movements from website descriptors and videos is usually not an issue, particularly unloaded (body weight – minimal risks) and machine based (skilless – do what the machine dictates you do).

However…

An exception would be Olympic Weightlifting. That's Weightlifting (one word, capital W), not weight lifting (two words, no caps). [note of interest; that may just be semantics to some... but recognising the difference is a great indicator of whether the source has a depth of knowledge on the subject.]

Weightlifting (one word, cap W) aka the Olympic Lifts aka the Fast lifts, namely the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk (plus derivative/variations – hang, muscle, power, split, power, push, snatch balance etc, etc,) ARE VERY TECHNICAL. Very. You NEED a skilled coach. I would strongly suggest you not attempt to just try these movements based on a video or articles description. Furthermore, it is dangerous to perform these lifts with sub par equipment. If you don't have bumper plates, stick with pvc pipe/wood dowel or avoid them. If you look at the end of your barbell and see a 'bolt', your bar is designed to be inexpensive, not perform the Worlds fastest (Snatch) and most Powerful (C&J) lifts.

Seems pretty obvious – don't work beyond what your capable of or have the proper equipment for – but we all know how ambitions can get the best of us!

Great to see the Endurance community embracing serious strength training and intensity!

I discovered the Peak Performance website today. It's a British site, with hundreds of recent, research based articles on training. The articles on Endurance are worth checking out…

Strength Training for Endurance Athletes

Endurance training: building a strong base is the key to achieving optimum running fitness

Strength and endurance training- can both the elements be mastered at once?

Concurrent training: how to simultaneously train upper and lower body strength, muscular endurance and flexibility
